Senior Hazmat Coordinator
COSCO SHIPPING Lines (North America) Inc.

Skills essential for the position:

  • Attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Tech Savvy (extremely proficient in Outlook and Excel)

Experience & Certifications:

  • IMDG Certified
  • 49CFR Certified (dated within the last 4 years)
  • TDGR & ADR (preferred)
  • 2-3 years minimum experience in Ocean Transport involving Hazmat/DG

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain hazmat discharge approvals from our agents all over the world
  • Maintain contacts up to date on an outlook list shared nationally
  • Approve, Pend or Reject hazmat applications based on compliance and internal restrictions
    • Applications must comply with foreign, domestic and private regulations/restrictions
  • Cross Check hazmat documents with applications to confirm accuracy
  • Handle an internal and external email inbox
    • Update customers and customer service on hazmat approval status
    • Follow up on missing approvals from agents/partners or on missing info from customers
  • Occasionally enter hazmat data from hazdecs into our in-house system
  • Ensure all pending hazmat applications are kept up to date
  • Confirm hazmat bookings once all approvals are accounted for
