Thank you to Jef Beason, OOCL (USA) Inc. for providing the following information on the 2010 Olympics.
INTERIM
ORDER – DANGEROUS GOODS POLICY FOR 2010 OLYMPICS
Transport Canada has released its proposed Interim Order for the movement of
dangerous goods during the 2010 Olympics.
The key changes are as follows:
A person must not transport at any time in a road vehicle or a railway vehicle the following dangerous goods into, through or within Zone 1 (Downtown core):
a. dangerous goods that require an emergency response assistance plan;
b. dangerous goods that are explosives included in Class 1.1, Class 1.2 and Class 1.5; and
c. dangerous goods that are included in Class 7, Radioactive materials.
Except from midnight to 0600, a person must not transport in a road vehicle or a railway vehicle dangerous goods that require a placard in accordance with Part 4, Dangerous Goods Safety Marks, of the Regulations into, through or within Zone 1.
Except from midnight to 0600 (may change to 0800), a person must not transport in a road vehicle or a railway vehicle the following dangerous goods into, through or within Zone 2 (Whistler/Sea to Sky corridor):
a. dangerous goods that require a placard in accordance with Part 4, Dangerous Goods Safety Marks, of the Regulations; and
b. dangerous goods that require an emergency response assistance plan;
Except from midnight to 0600, a person must not transport in a road vehicle or a railway vehicle the following dangerous goods into, through or within Zone 3 (Richmond Oval), Zone 4 (University of British Columbia), Zone 5 (Hillcrest), Zone 6 (Cypress Bowl Road), Zone 7, Kilarney, Zone 8 (Pacific Coliseum), Zone 9 (Trout Lake), Zone 10 (Britannia), Zone 11 (ISU) and Zone 12 (Vancouver Airport):
a. dangerous goods that require a placard in accordance with Part 4, Dangerous Goods Safety Marks, of the Regulations; and
b. dangerous goods that require an emergency response assistance plan.
